What Can Be Done About a Computer That is Not Starting Up?
At times you will have a computer that just doesn’t start up properly. This can be a bit frustrating because replacing a computer let alone the data on the computer can cost quite a bit of money as well as time. Find out what you can do if your computer is not starting.
First of all, check your connections. Make sure the computer it plugged in properly to the power strip while the strip is on and plugged into the wall. Additionally check the connection from the computer to the monitor as this can sometimes get unplugged making it seem like something is broken.
Load your computer into safe mode if the normal boot process is not working. In safe mode, run your virus and spyware scans to get rid of any malicious software that might ruining your normal boot procedure.
One option is to boot into the last known good configuration. Sometimes this is a way of avoiding problems since it will load up the way it did when last working.
You might have an operating system error. This means that something has become corrupted to the point that you can’t boot up. One option is to use your system recovery disks. There is an option to repair the operating system. This will fix the corruptions without deleting or messing with your files on the machine.
If this fails completely, you are going to have to reload your entire operating system. This will destroy the data on your computer. What this does is put the computer back to the same settings that were there when you bought the machine. The errors at this point are going to be gone assuming they are software errors and not hardware issues.
In the future it’s a good idea to clone your drive. What this means is that you are making a backup of the exact image of your operating system and files onto an external hard drive. Whenever there are issues, you can load your cloned image onto your hard drive and the errors are gone.
